Mac the Monkey Classes
Mac’s classes start from 6 weeks old and run until children are in approximately 5 years old.
Our classes from 6 weeks – 3 years old are Parent/Guardian and Child classes – adults can take part in the adventures each week alongside their child.
Our classes from 3–5 years old are parent/guardian free. We call these Independent Child classes because the main aim of these classes is to encourage each child to build up their confidence and learn independently.
In all of Mac’s classes children learn to listen, share, take instruction and make new friends.
Mac's Stage Academy
Suitable for children aged 4–6 years old
Does your little one want to be on stage or need the confidence to speak and perform in front of others? Either way the Stage Academy is perfect for every child aged between 4–6 years old.
Our 2 hour sessions provide an all–round education in Dance, Drama, Singing and Music and Gymnastics and Sports. In today’s world all these performing arts areas are interlinked and we have found that when young children are exposed to structured classes at an early age their confidence flourishes and social and learning skills develop quickly providing a great start to their school life. Music and Singing is an important part of dance and performing, dance and movement skills are important in Drama and Drama helps children express their selves. Dance and Music is all about the enjoyment of expressing yourself! These classes enhance social, lingual, physical and rhythmical skills and with Mac’s adventures each week stretch the imagination.
We have split the academy into two age groups: 4–5 years and 5–6 years old.
Our Stage Academy classes are eligible to take part in an annual recognised group Young Performers examinations which are externally assessed by Trinity College London (these are run through the Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts registered centre and are subject to each centre’s ability to offer them – please see your academy principal for further information).
Little Performers Dance
At Pre–School level we run 2 levels of class: 18mths – 3years which has Parent/guardian participation which allows the child to develop with the comfort of a parent/guardian there.
3–5 years which is parent/guardian free to allow the children to develop independently.
Our 3–5 years classes are eligible to take part in an annual recognised group Examinations in Performing Arts by Trinity College London so the child can gain a certificate in musical theatre and gain experience in examination in a friendly and relaxed way (these are run through the AAPA registered centre and are subject to each centre’s ability to offer them – please see your academy principal for further information)
Little Holiday Clubs
Mac the Monkey Pre-School Holiday Clubs
Unique to the Mac the Monkey Academy is our 3 hour Holiday Club sessions. These sessions incorporate classes in both our Little Performers and our Little Gymnasts and Sporting Stars curriculum alongside other fun activities so that the children get a wide variety of experiences on each day of the club. Mac holiday clubs are usually run every school holiday for 3 days at a time. The 3 hour session is an Independent Child one and is for children aged 3-5 years old and on the last day a certain monkey appears to present children with a holiday club medal and certificate and pose for photos with the children creating a sense of ceremony and achievement.
Little Gymnasts & Sports Stars
Our 3–5 years classes take part in our class assessments throughout their time at our Mac the Monkey Academy gaining bronze, silver and gold medals allowing the children to visualise and chart their progressions.
These classes provide a taster in Dance, Drama and Music. In today’s world all these performing arts areas are interlinked and we have found that when young children are exposed to classes at an early age their confidence flourishes and social and learning skills develop quickly providing a great start to creating happy and healthy children.
These classes develop social, lingual, physical and rhythmical skills and with Mac’s adventures each week stretch the imagination. Be prepared to Sing, Dance, Act, play musical instruments and much more… Its a great class to spend quality time with your baby.
We know how daunting it is to come to a class with a new born. After the class we get the kettle on and we offer a 30 minute tea, coffee, biscuits and a chance for your baby to play with other babies with some toys and the mummies/ daddies/ grannies/ granddads to have a chat with each other. All our baby classes are friendly and supportive so you have nothing to worry about and everything to enjoy.
Once children have started to walk they will be ready to move onto to our older Little Performers Classes.
